Mission Australia is a non-denominational Christian charity that has been helping vulnerable Australians move towards independence for more than 155 years. Every day we support people nationwide by combatting homelessness, assisting disadvantaged families and children, addressing mental health issues, fighting substance dependencies, and much more.

The “Op Shops” division was developed 26 years ago to help fund the non-funded programs of Mission Australia in this region which consisted of a recycling warehouse and retail op-shops. Today, Mission Australia Op Shops has grown to include an IT Refurbishment Program and extensive warehouse and retail operations.

The Op Shops and Warehouse Operations house roughly 250-300 volunteers across our 10 stores and warehouse. Our aim is to provide families and individuals in the local communities with access to affordable clothing, furniture and other items.

Our organisation cannot function effectively without the help of our amazing volunteers who commit their time, labour and support. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and we enjoy being able to give them something back to say ‘thank you’ for all the hard work they do for us and their communities.

Together, we stand with Australians in need until they can stand for themselves.

Q. What happens when I join?

We’ll send a request to your current retailer to set you free. This is just an admin thing so your power supply isn’t affected in any way at all. Your transfer to Energy Locals will take place when your meter is next read. You also have the benefit of a 10 business day cooling off period in case you change your mind.

Q. Does Energy Locals have cheap rates?
We don’t play the usual game of offering short-term discounts that disappear as soon as you stop paying attention. With Energy Locals you can enjoy ongoing great prices and never fear that you’re getting messed around. See our rates >
Q. Are the carbon offsets accredited by the Government?
We’re applying to the Department of Energy and Environment to have our efforts formally accredited. The carbon offsets we’ve purchased are certified and completely in line with the Government’s requirements to achieve this accreditation.
Q. How often will I pay?
You can set up monthly or fortnightly fixed payments towards your account. Doing so helps avoid so-called “bill shock”, but this is optional. We send bills when we receive meter readings. This is every three months if you have a basic meter, or daily reads with monthly billing if you have a smart meter. Read more about regular payments >
