Energy Locals are proud to announce that we're offsetting all greenhouse gas emissions associated with the energy we provide to our customers.
We've purchased and surrendered Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), recognised under the National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS), equal to the total amount of energy we expect our customers to use over the next year, making our power Carbon Neutral.
CERs are an instrument created under the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol. The certificates are generated by international sustainability developments, including renewable energy projects, and have been independently shown to result in emissions abatement. Greenhouse gas emissions are a global issue and our customers can relax with the knowledge that the energy they consume results in net zero global emissions.
We'll continue this commitment to provide carbon neutral energy. If our customers use more energy than we forecast, we'll purchase additional certificates.
It would be rude not to practice what we preach. So as well as offsetting the carbon from the energy our customers use, we also offset all the greenhouse gas emissions associated with our business activities.
We've calculated the Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions associated with our operations, and each year we'll surrender an equivalent amount of internationally-recognised carbon offsets.
We look forward to reducing our carbon footprint and doing our bit to support a sustainable world.
