The role

The Billing Specialist at Energy Locals plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our billing operations. Reporting to the Community Energy Networks (CEN) Billing and Meter Data Manager, the Billing Specialist is responsible for managing various billing activities, data quality assurance, payments processing, reconciliation, and reporting. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute bill runs and process transactions accurately.
• Address billing exceptions and discrepancies promptly.
• Collaborate with Meter Data Providers (MDPs) to address missing data and ensure data integrity.
• Manage payment processing, receipting, and reconciliation.
• Conduct gate meter reconciliation and generate reports on unbilled accounts.
• Import and process manual meter readings for water, electricity and other services.
• Manage site-specific activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Maintain customer accounts ensuring correct pricing and plan assignments.
• Handle escalated customer inquiries and resolve billing-related issues efficiently.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in billing operations within the energy retail industry.
• Previous experience in Embedded Networks and a thorough understanding of how Embedded Networks work.
• Strong understanding of billing processes, data management, and reconciliation techniques.
• Proven experience working with Meter Data Providers to resolve complex data issues and meter investigations.
• Proficiency in using billing systems and software, such as Utilmate and MS office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of energy market regulations and compliance standards is advantageous.
